I am a journalist, M.Sc. I live in Tampere, married to Irene Roivainen, and we have three children (-94, -89 and -81).

I have been active in the Greens since the movement was founded almost 20 years ago. I worked as the Chief Editor of the Green paper Vihreä lanka in the 1980s and acted as the Vice Chairperson of the Green League in the early 1990s. I was a Green City Council Member in Tampere 1998 - 2006. I was the leader of the Green City Council Group as long as eight years in a row. Now I am Special Adviser Media and Communication to the Mayor of Tampere .

As a journalist, I'm specialised in environmental and consumer issues. I have worked as a freelance journalist since 1990. I work for the radio and different newspapers and journals. I am an experienced columnist and have also published books on ecological consumption.
